Sorted 1) by how good it is at being science fiction that horrifies, or horror that scares and also has science and 2) a bit by quality. There are very good films that don't fit well that are at the bottom.
Inclusion criteria: Only what I've seen so far. I mostly follow the reference lists or genre tag. I am marginally more selective than other lists. I exclude films like The Empty Man and The Crazies because they have no characteristics of science fiction as a genre and contain no science. To me, The Endless is also just fictional cosmic horror without any science. Prey, Nope, and A Quiet Place are the cutoff…

If anyone wants to convince me otherwise, I'm open to it.
Sometimes I am more inclusive. Gaia contains science. Studying fungus is science. Same with In the Earth. But they aren't very good examples of the genre so they are ranked low, despite being relatively good films.
