If you ask me whether Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story truly deserves its sky high IMDb 9.2 rating, I’d honestly say… not quite.
Don’t get me wrong it’s a well made show. The writing is sharp, the performances (especially Pratik Gandhi as Harshad Mehta) are outstanding, and the direction captures the chaotic energy of India’s financial boom in the late ’80s and early ’90s. The storytelling feels detailed and grounded, almost like a documentary at times.
But here’s the catch: this isn’t an easy watch for everyone.
To fully appreciate the story, you need at least a basic understanding of the stock market things like bull runs, banking loopholes, and how trading systems work. And more importantly, some familiarity…
