I found this movie entertaining! It is not consistently great but great at times an ok at others. A very interesting concept and the method of execution of the story is unique! Nice amount of gore! If you haven’t seen it check it out on Shudder!

🎊🎊👻BEST HORROR MOVIE OF THE YEAR👻🎊🎊
For me this is the best horror movie of the year, now there have been movies like HIS HOUSE or THE INVISIBLE MAN for instance which I might have considered the best pick but ANYTHING FOR JACKSON stayed true to the genre, see the thing is I don't want to be lectured about social, political, ethical or moral issues when I'm watching a horror movie something that his house, spiral, antebellum and a few other movies did, don't get me wrong I'm all up for it, but when I'm watching a horror movie I want to relax and see a smart script, good performances filled with some great scares a movie that respects the…
How a guy that has basically made his living directing Christmas trash for Hallmark could team up with a writer peddling his freshman script make one of the better horror movies of the year, I will never understand. Yet, here we are.
Let’s take a moment to consider some essential things we should take into account regarding senior welfare and how Satan can make all the difference.
What a completely delightful surprise that I almost missed out on because I hadn’t really heard much of anything about it! I stumbled onto it on Shudder TV and after a couple of minutes I knew I had to watch it from the beginning! So refreshing to see a straightforward satanic horror flick that doesn’t try to be retro or ironic or funny or political or anything else like that.
It’s just a horror movie about a couple that kidnaps a pregnant woman in an attempt to bring their grandson back to life through a “reverse exorcism”. It’s a unique story, but I just love that it doesn’t have an ounce of pretense or any hidden message. These are just…
First of all, tried to watch this movie without expectations like I usually do…Lets be honest “Anything for Jackson” isn´t a good-horror catchy name but damn…. Glad to say I’m pretty impressed.
Something that captured my attention was the huge ‘Hereditary’ vibes (Ari Aster’s movie). Why? Well, a grieving couple (in this case) that tries to bring back their beloved lost grandchild vs a grieving mother that tries to contact her dead daughter (Hereditary).
Without major spoilers I do like how the director plays with hallucinations/illusion since the audience do not know whether some things are real, not real or to what extent they are real or not (Those scenes play with the audience´s mind for a bit)
I also…
A low budget affair from a director whose filmography would not lead you to believe he'd direct something like this, but it's ambitious, snappy, and puts enough of an original spin on a classic concept to feel fresh. Some of the weaker effects and stiff supporting cast might pull at the seams a bit, but the lead couple are great, and I'm always down for things going totally batshit. The handful of tastefully placed background ghosts were a nice touch too.
What a delightfully spooky surprise. Didn’t expect this to be as effective, emotional and downright SCARY as it was. Dyck’s direction is razor sharp, the performances are endearing and some of the imagery stayed with me well after the film ends. Incredibly effective.
First time watching this, I had no idea this dude was a hallmark Christmas romance film director making his first horror movie. Knowing that, watching it again, it made me even appreciate it more.
Now I desperately want him to combine those two genres. A Christmas romance movie about a rich banker who comes home to visit the town he left years ago only to find love with the local small town cookie-maker girl, that then turns into a descent into madness.
I have the title. All I want in return is a Special Thanks in the credits.
Hellmark
Another movie that has been making the waves throughout the platform and with LB buddy Bunny hyping this up as most everyone else giving bad or lukewarm reviews, I was very curious to check this out….
….and it was good.
I mean, the gore is at a top of order where it doesn’t come as torture porn or anything like that. The imagery, from the ghosts to even some of the human beings (I’m looking at you ginger boy) were creepy as hell. The story has some nice twists and turn, though its nothing that special. A very good cautionary tale with some good performances.
Unfortunately for me, the movie got to a point where it just got so over…

Spooky.
Anything for Jackson is a held in captivity/haunted house/satanic rituals hybrid from Shudder and it's pretty clever and fun. There are some images that will infect my brain for a while because of the creepy effects and morbid story. I like the script and the performances are fine enough for a low budget film. I just wanted a little bit more but I have no major complaints.
Sure.
So a grieving elderly couple kidnap a reluctant pregnant woman in order to perform a reverse exorcism. Hoping that this will lead to their young grandson being reborn in her newborn baby. Unfortunately the black magic they used brought back more ghosts than they expected...
This was a clever lil gem! Ended up being a dark, twisted, somewhat bloody spookfest(ala AHS Murderhouse). With some creepy looking ghosts to boot.
