Set as an investigative drama during the first hour, the movie takes its own time to set up its characters and universe with multiple narratives, while picking itself up with a kickass interval bang and later turning into an extravagant action bonanza with terrific action set pieces lined up one after the other in the final hour. Each n every character get a chance to score, with its main trio of Kamal Haasan, Fahadh Faasil and Vijay Sethupathi leading from the front delivering exceptional performances. Suriya’s cameo was a pure blast. Now, this is how a proper multi starrer needs to be made and the high it provides is truly indescribable.

Not the masterpiece some reviews and people promised me, but it definitely was a hell of a ride with some great fun and a bit over the top action, mainly by Kamal Hasaan’s titular character looking all gruff—almost like an Indian Gerard Butler—and kicking ass, killing presidential candidates by jumping off buildings and splitting their heads in half. The kinetic camerawork and some great editing also helped sustain the tension and thrills really well. The musical numbers were very sporadic, but I liked them alright. Loved the cat and mouse between Vikram and Amar too. The story was a bit convoluted, which made it a bit hard for me to follow, but…

Lokesh mastering the "greater, better film to watch but I wouldn't wanna revisit again" format of films and this is definitely his second best if not THE BEST work till date. And he deserves every single hype he gets btw.
The first half felt eternally long but I don't mind as the world it was setting up and the films it was tying together (Vikram and Kaithi) were intriguing but that full meals second half ate us up and left no crumps.
Maan Suriya literally showed up for like 5 mns and lit up the screen and HOW!!!

Blown away by Lokesh Kanagaraj's VIKRAM. A well-written, brutal & energizing action thriller with impressively staged & well-executed action set pieces & a terrific soundtrack! Kamal Hassan once again, showing the kids how it’s done! VJS, Fahadh & Suriya...entire cast made up exclusively of scene-stealers!
Can’t remember the last time I saw an Indian action thriller this good. Also how the fuck this movie got an 'U/A' certificate... there's some wild, gnarly on-screen violence caught on film here.
looks gorgeous, brilliant editing and score, a great twisty and very dark story perfectly balanced with delivering nonstop fangirl moments, it's 2am and my brain is exhausted and all i can really say for now is i feel extremely blessed to be a vjs & kamal fan
This is so much unhinged unserious fun which I did underestimate the movie at the time of release for sure, it happens.
The wannabe vikrams are never this movie's fault as everyone would try to emulate something that worked big time.
One of those movies where I have to say " you just had to be there myre, myre myre myre" in vjs voice. It definitely is a great comeback movie for aandavar who unfortunately had to go back with indian 2 😭.
