Goofy ass horror about two weirdos, too many moths and a box demon. A true story about what it's like being poor in America.
This story is incomplete there are lot of loose ends and the director didn't even bother to tell the whole truth about the box.
A premise that could’ve been great but they turned it into 85 minutes long of rent deposit argument with too many moths and a box demon.
I was already on Netflix after Midnight Mass and decided to go ahead and check this out and it's ok. It's not great, but it's watchable.
It starts out well and seems like it's going to be a fun ghost story, but then it takes a turn and becomes something else entirely and it seems like those cool creepy ghosts were just there the whole time to add in something creepy until it gets to where it's going because they could have been left out and the end would have been the same.
I like the lead actress who was also in The Terror: Infamy and I got a kick out of how they made Cleveland seem like the single most depressing place in the entire world because it's not, but damn if they didn't dump this poor illegal immigrant there and make it seem like a pretty even trade from where she came from lol
Americans feeding off the tragedy of immigrants… it’s sad, cold, dark and looks nice but I can’t say this story is very compelling .. it’s takes a bit too long to develop and the jump scares along the way are a major turn off .. the villains are flat and a lot of the acting from the peripheral characters is pretty bad .. Netflix was on a roll dropping goodies like blood red sky and a classic horror story but this is a step back ..
I really enjoyed this one which i kinda wasn't expecting to be completely honest because i've been hearing mixed reviews about it ever since it came out back in 2021. The concepts of this movie is what i liked the most and i found it kinda disturbing because it's pretty realistic if you take out the supernatural stuff, because immigrants go through a lot of hard times just to make a living and it's very sad. The acting was pretty good as well and the cinematography was decent.
Overall i would highly suggest this movie to everyone you won't be disappointed especially if you like supernatural horror. It's on netflix everywhere.
The immigrant experience, with its perpetual trials and tests of spirit, is terrifying. What we regularly hear on the news is only a glimpse of the horrors families face when seeking a better life. And with a fear-stoking media that deals in extremes, that's a terrifying thought in and of itself. Last night, I read—more like attempted to read—an article about one family's journey from Honduras that sincerely gave me enough anxiety that I had to put it down. I'll never see what these families do to make it to a country that offers them a semblance of a better existence as anything less than extraordinary, especially when I know they'll likely arrive only to be discriminated against and take…
