On my last day at the BIFFF festival I had the choice between a sad movie with Benedict Cumberbatch and a Korean remake of Dale & Tucker Vs. Evil. This is not a movie with Benedict Cumberbatch. I watched Dale & Tucker Vs. Evil at the festival a long time ago. It is such a fun movie to watch with a crowd. I wrote in my more recent review of Dale & tucker vs. Evil, that I was not sure about their relationship. I speculated they were brothers from another mother. In this movie they are - no doubt - brothers from another mother. Now, did I picked that up unconsciously when watching the original? Or! Did the Koreans ripped off my letterboxd review? We probably never know. We, the BIFFF audience loved this movie. We nearly teared the house down. Which means, loud rhythmic clapping when the end credits played.
Misunderstandings can be such a bitch. Handsome Guys is a remake from Tucker and Dale vs. Evil (2010) which fantastically made, fresh, and has the same amount of entertainment level as the original. Nam Dong-hyub's directorial debut is specifically a treat for horror and comedy absurd hardcore fans, also paying homage to a lot of iconic horror flicks. This is made for you who into wild movies such as Cabin in the Woods, Evil Dead, Final Destination, and most absurd movies like Scary Movie. Don't get me wrong because this ain't wild as few films I just mentioned, quite the opposite, if the original has the PG-13 version, this is the one.
This has less brutal and gore but the…
Demon girl: - 'Lurueururur' 😛😈
*Priest pointed gun at her. 🔫
Demon Girl: - 'Excuse me sir? 🥺
Priest: - Shut up!!!! 😡 🔫 💥
This is cinema!!!!
I never ever really expected this to be so funny 😭 I have not laughed so hard in a real long time, I was almost close to tears.
Ignore the bad title, this is great. I'm only telling my cool friends about this one.
A Korean remake of Tucker and Dale Vs Evil, but instead of just subverting slasher movie tropes, it adds in supernatural K-horror. How fucking cool. The physical comedy is arguably even better than the original. It's charming, lovable, and joyous. As of the writing of this review, this has less than 3,400 views on Letterboxd, so you get to be the first kid on your block to see it. Future cult classic. Do I really even need to say anything else?
The film leans into the comedy over the horror, which is the correct choice. Jae-pil (Lee Sung-min) and Sang-gu (Lee Hee-joon) take on…
The Korean remake the fantastic and hilarious Tucker and Dale vs evil surprisingly has a touch of evil dead and it works. So it really is a fun time with the humor of Tucker and Dale with the slapstick of evil dead 2.
The movie follows the story of the original at first then it starts to bring in the supernatural demonic twists. It works well and is really funny.
What makes the movie so enjoyable is the three main characters. The Korean versions of tucker and Dale bring the charm and attitude of the original. Mina is a fun character too. The ending all three have a pretty cool and engaging moments as they fight Demons.
The lore isn't…
A Korean remake of Tucker and Dale vs. Evil, which I must check out now. It seems more relevant to, especially in the wake of the news that a TV sequel was slashed. Bop! It’s one with a concept that would benefit from a serial format, but enough of me yapping about something I ain’t seen yet.
Back to Handsome Guys – this was a hoot and then some more! I enjoyed this one so much, as it knew when to tap into peak silliness, the head-exploding kind. You know what’s good too? An obligatory, Snow White-coded washing-up dance number. Handsome Guys plays on the tropes. Pretty princess? No…
61/100.
Korean remake of Tucker & Dale vs. evil almost does it right.
With charming lead actors and perfectly timed liners, this action horror comedy ticks all the boxes and ends up being a thorough entertainer. The horror aspect was handled lightly and that's a good thing too. Those who have seen the original Canadian film also have a lot to like about this film. Gong Seung yeon played her role very well. The biblical reference feels unintentionally funny. A self aware Korean comedy that outdoes its original source.
this is the most absurd and funniest thing i’ve ever watched. watching this in the cinema was an experience
this type of humour and pace don't always work for me but after a few minutes i couldn't look away. it's so stupid yet so fun!
The Korean Tucker & Dale remake with a supernatural spin on things.
It has a lot of the original films elements but also does a few things differently that it doesn't feel like you're watching the exact same movie.
Has more supernatural/zombie undead plot points. It was a bunch of fun seeing what Korea could do with this 👍
