My God is this movie a masterpiece! Everything in this movie is executed to perfection. The performances are mesmerizing and gripping and obviously Daniel Day-Lewis is transcendent in his performance. The swift, experienced direction from Paul Thomas Anderson is quite elegant and excellent in the camera-movements, as in some little way, they affect the mood of the current scene unfolding. The cinematography is lush and stark with it's beautiful contrasts in color. The score is done by Jonny Greenwood (who collaborated again with PTA on Phantom Thread) and conveys excellent calming pieces, to blood-chilling overtures. The dialogue is so blunt and sharp, it enhances our viewing as an audience of the story of Daniel Plainview. Speaking of the story. WOW! The story is so interesting to watch unfold as you witness how power and greed corrupt a man. There is never a dull moment in this movie, whether it be exiciting sequences drilling for oil, or the magnificent conversations that play out between characters. Good God I could go on forever about this movie it's so damn good! Please, if you have by some chance missed out on this masterpiece, check it out!
