Gold of the Caribbean: Pirates at the Oscars

Primarily based on the Golden Age of Piracy and influenced by the book Treasure Island, pirates have been a major force in pop culture. From historical adventure films following noble pirates, to family films with pirate antagonists, to science fiction where pirates take to the stars, this is a list of films nominated for Oscars which revolve around the crime of piracy. That is films where a major element revolves around the criminal act of attacking ships, naval or otherwise, for the purposes of robbing and plundering.
