Another year, another wonderful Hooptober. This was my second time round, but just as delightful as the first. Choices were based as always on the prompts from Cinemonster’s original. Due to time limitations I stuck to short reviews this time - 100 words or fewer.
This year, I got way further into the Leprechaun franchise and deepened my attachment to the work of Ken Russell. I was intrigued by the visual choices of Bava Sr. and let down a bit by Bava Jr.
I ended up giving a range of scores from 1* (the lowest - Demons 2) to 4.5* (the highest - Bram Stoker’s Dracula) and successfully reviewed all films.
A few inconsequential awards:
• Most Pleasant Surprise: Vicious Fun
