Happy 10th anniversary Hooptober! This in my 6th time participating, and each time has created wonderful memories. They're the type of memories one takes to the grave....or are responsible for a haunted house. Thanks (?) cinemonster.
Anyway, I always name my Hooptober challenge after a film or theme. This year the theme is about the number ten. Symbolically, 10 can represent resurrection, a new cycle, or the dawn of a new era. Anyway, I always name my Hooptober challenge after a film or theme. This year the theme is about the number ten. Symbolically, 10 can represent resurrection, a new cycle, or the dawn of a new era. As we count on our chubby little digits, we soon realize that expressing a number beyond ten requires both the new and old. In that spirit, I picked 10 horror reboots or remakes for my list. After all, these recreations have similar requirements: it needs just enough of the old stuff to attract audiences, and just enough new stuff to keep them intrigued.
As for my lists name, it's play on a common theme amongst many remakes and reboots. Many of them today are content with copying the titles of their source material, with no subtitle or indication that it is a continuation, a re-imagining, and/or modernization. The titles Halloween, Friday the 13th, and Dawn of the Dead can each represent 2 or more films. Since CrazyTGI is one of the first usernames I ever used, it serves as a fitting way to pay homage to reusing original titles.
