It's that time of year again: that time when the days get shorter as the night expands its dominion over the Earth. That time when the leaves turn and in their dying gasps bathe the world in a warm, autumnal glow amidst the fading of the light. That time when a chill wind begins to blow through the suburban streets of America, bringing with it portents of a difficult winter ahead and the ever-present uncertainty of what may be lurking around every street corner.
It's the haunted season, everybody, and I cannot wait for it this year.
I've done Hooptober several times, and have completed it twice — most recently last year! This year I'm looking to repeat that effort…

It's the haunted season, everybody, and I cannot wait for it this year.
I've done Hooptober several times, and have completed it twice — most recently last year! This year I'm looking to repeat that effort with HOOPTOBER X. No subtitle; the X is enough.
As always, here are the rules, as laid out in head honcho Cinemonster's own list. If you want to participate, make your own list that satisfies the below rules and follow along!
The Challenge:
* Make a list of 31 horror films that fulfill all of the below rules.
* The goal is to watch one film a day every day in October, but because life is what it is, film viewing will take place from September 15th through October 31st. Two weeks of grace!
* Every film must be reviewed.
* Films can fulfill multiple rules.
* Films must be tagged with the "horror" genre on Letterboxd (this is my personal imposition, it's not part of Cinemonster's official rulings, so use at your own discretion).
* First watches ONLY! No films that you have already seen. Expand those horizons!
The Rules:
6 Countries
8 Decades
3 Satan/Devil-centered films
2 Post-Apocalyptic/Natural Disaster films
1 "Something is Underground" film
1 Amicus Productions film.
The Worst Dracula Film (that you haven't seen and can access!)
1 LGBTQ+ connected film
5 Films from the Directors Shortlist: De Palma, Wes Craven, Ken Russell, Hitchcock, and Morehead & Benson.
1 Mario Bava film.
2 Peter Cushing-starring films
1 Robert Englund-starring film
1 film based on a work of or invoking the name Bram Stoker
1 film based on a Clive Barker story
1 film that was released the year that you turned 10
1 film with an 'x' in the title
...and 1 Tobe Hooper film, for there must always be a Hooper film.
Tags for which rules each film satisfies are found in the notes of this list!
