Here we are. Another year, another Hooptober. I only came on board for the eighth installment, dipping my toes into the horror pool as - let's be honest - I was a massive baby at the time. I'm not now. I mean, I guess that's up for debate in some aspects, but in a horror-adjacent fashion, I feel I can take pretty much any jumpscare, and really that's all I wanted from this. Horror has become a go-to genre for me when I'm looking for something to watch so rather than the plethora of big hitters I had to choose from a couple of years back, we're probably going to be getting slightly more niche now. I still haven't seen Jaws, mind you.
Shout out to Cinemonster for another list. Appreciate you. You can find the new one and all of the prompts it is comprised of by clicking here. I'm really quirky and a right special little fucker so I've put some funny little quotes before some of the prompts if you check out my notes. So, so good. I should charge for this.
One thing I really like about Cinemonster's lists is the in memoriam section. Seeing The Iron Sheik listed there has inspired me to put a nod to another professional wrestling-related recent passing in Windham Rotunda - better known as Bray Wyatt - who left us three days ago at the time of writing. I grew up alongside WWF; I was definitely too young for it, but I couldn't get enough of wrestling during the Attitude Era and have always been close to it ever since. While I don't watch every week, every now and then something comes about that piques my interest. Bray Wyatt's reinvention as the Fiend in 2019 was just that. I was hooked. That mask. That performance. That Code Orange theme. Honestly, couldn't get enough. I was lucky enough to meet Windham briefly in 2009. I know, what a hipster. I was on holiday in Florida with my family and forced them to take me to an FCW show and, while the show was great in itself, I'm slightly more grateful now that I got a small interaction with someone who went on to bring me so much enjoyment over the last few years. While my interest in wrestling comes and goes, I'll always follow the buzzards.
For anyone who reads that, thank you for indulging me. I wish you a wonderful Hooptober, and y'know, have a good one. Have a good life. Make the most of it, if you want to. Enjoy yourself. Cheers.
