With The Band Wagon, Astaire and Minnelli revisit their initial pairing, 1945's disastrous Yolanda and the Thief, which very much like The Band Wagon's Faust inspired show, would also go on to lay an enormous egg.
With eight years and enough time past to now laugh about the Yolanda and the Thief fiasco, Astaire and Minnelli reteam to tell the story of a production gone terribly wrong...and eventually made right.
