Another gem of a lighthearted lifestyle-satire drama from Manikandan, effortlessly blending all his socio jabs within the main theme of human-nature harmonious relationship, in such a humorously effective and delightfully simplistic manner. Loved the symbolisms and metaphors. He beautifully showcases how traditional farming was all about coexistence and not exploitation, and how it was linked to spiritual, cultural and existential practice. It never plays the victim card nor gets preachy at any point, building on its world organically with well etched characters and sub plots, all leading into one highly gratifying climax, that leaves you with a long lasting emotional gratification.
Vijay Sethupathi and Yogi Babu offer enjoyable cameos as the juxtaposed modern men, one lost in his endless search for permanence…
Kadaisi Vivasayi is a film with a whole heart, surfaced in the emotions, humor, energy and philosophy of life. The film doesn't picturise farming as profitability. It breaks the stereotypical tropes of the genre and portrays farming as a way of life. Along with the life of a farmer, his love for the world's essential job, the director Manikandan also weaves the simple and awesome lives of people and the benefits of a devoted heart. This film also will help our younger and youngest generations understand deeply where things come from and the value of simplicity. The film doesn't handle farming as difficult job but it shows sustained cultivation even of small scale makes us a farmer. The dose of…

it's probably impossible to make a live action Hayao Miyazaki movie but Kadaisi Vivasayi exists to prove us all wrong
Ancient ways are not all regressive. Director Manikandan uses mystery and a logical character like Mayandi to deliver that message instead of blindly relying on superstitions(like most lazy movies in the past) thus helping the audience connect with villagers who celebrate nature and it's offerings.
Kadaisi Vivasayi upholds the beauty of simple living and co-existence. It powerfully depicts the importance of farming.
The bond amongst villagers, the eye-pleasing shots and a constant reminder to value all living things made sure that I was teary eyed almost throughout the movie. Mayandi experiencing everything blissful that nature has to offer- be it sleeping under the moon, witnessing a peacock dance from his field..etc made me long for a life away from the city for the millionth time.
This one is easily my favourite 2022 movie so far and I regret not watching it on the big screen.
Sometimes we cry in films not because things are sad but when they turn out to be more beautiful than we expected them to be.
Watched this on my way to hostel in a public bus. And I was trying my best not to cry in some scenes . I had to pause the movie for half a minute and look out from window , so my ready to burst tears would evaporate........
I haven't watch much Indian movies compared to the number of western movies I have watched. Decided to watch this as this was rated 2nd highest in 2022. No wonder regarding that result !
I live in Sri Lanka which is about 500 km away from the…
Only when one breaks free of their thoughts will they become God.
Holy freakin shit at last i found a 5 star rating film from indian films from 2022. I don't know how to describe what I'm feeling right now after watching 140 mins of pure and spectacular cinema. The way we got to see the current situation of farmers in India through the 80 something old character Mayandi played absolutely beautifully by late Nallandi (may his soul rest in peace) was very heartwarming and moving.
The film felt like watching small small chapters from the short stories of RK Laxman (famous indian writer showing the problems of poor people in gentle way) and each character truly felt like beautifully…
Well that's how a movie makes you cry.
One in million.
This movie feels like a deep breath of air - wilful and refreshing.
This is so precious.
This has to be one of the gentlest, beautiful movies I've seen.
