The Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, introduced in 1937 at the 9th Academy Awards, is presented annually for the best achievement in acting by a supporting actress in a film from the previous year.
The award is traditionally presented by the previous year's Best Supporting Actor winner. In lieu of the traditional Oscar statuette, supporting acting recipients were given plaques up until the 16th Academy Awards, when statuettes were awarded to each category instead.
Sorted chronologically by awards year. Winners in BOLD. Acceptance speech linked in Notes (where available).
