If you are looking for an exorcism horror movie without big expectation this one is a nice choice! 💁🏻♀️

I like the plot; using one family, and the demon changing itself in turn to become members of that family, it's pretty interesting and also scary. The jumpscares and suspense are quite surprising.
But sadly, there are too many things left unsaid and implied meanings to offset the constant sense of foreboding in every scene. Then we are left with a mediocre ending— okay, a little empty I guess.
if i see a dead animal hanging outside my window on the first day after my move in im getting the fuck out of there
South Korea has been putting out some very good horror for a while now. I would have to say that this movie ranks right up there. It might depend on how you feel about possession/exorcism films though. If you aren't into those types of films, then it will be hard to get into one no matter how good it might be. These are certainly not my favorite sub-genre in horror, but I don't mind them too much.
The story has to do with a priest who performs an exorcism that goes wrong. The church doesn't seem to think he did anything wrong, he just wasn't able to save the person. He is ready to take on an assignment overseas when…
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
Started my off day watching a neat Korean horror gem about a shape shifting demon that torments one family. This films doesn't really do anything new but the demonic possession of the entire family angle was pretty cool. With a demonic doppelganger creeping around mimicking each of the family members it helped make things appear fairly tense. Does overstay its welcome at almost two hours. Lots of blood and quality makeup effects work. Also enjoyed the vibrant color pallette. Fitting bleak ending
Available on Shudder for those curious
After an exorcism goes sideways, a pastor (Bae Seong-woo) has a crisis of faith, faces public scorn, and has a demon vowing revenge. Also suffering from the scandal is the pastor's family (Sung Dong-il & Jang Young-nam as brother & sister-in-law) who are forced to relocate... fortunately they won a really nice home. Along with a Satanist next door, the nuclear family are soon seeing sinister doppelgangers of themselves - and the pastor may have to put off his overseas mission...
Bae's coming to terms with his doubt arc is a religious horror staple, but priest's loved ones as colleral damage seems different enough that I'm giving this props for creativity in a subgenre that all feels like Exorcist knockoffs. Admittedly I'm…
Metamorphosis is a like a bad, overly dramatic, South Korean version of the sadly short lived Exorcist TV series. Although, whereas The Exorcist series was really good, this movie was whack as fuck. The thing that immediately turned me off from the movie was the fact that it was very obviously trying way too hard to be a Hollywood blockbuster style horror movie. I watch American movies almost everyday and when a foreign film comes up on my watchlist I look forward to seeing something with a different sort of style. Metamorphosis not only tries to imitate shitty commercial American horror movies, it somehow manages to be even worse than the crap it is trying to emulate. The acting is…
Bombastic, with slick production values, but boy is it generic. I checked out really hard for the bulk of the middle, and by the time something remotely interesting happened, it was too far gone to reel me back in.
Leave it to Korea to bring us one of the more original exorcism movies I've seen in a while! I love how the demon can jump between people freely, leaving you unsure where it will pop up next. If that wasn't enough, there is a decent amount of blood and the world's creepiest neighbor. Oh, and a possibly possessed girl getting whipped with thorny switches.
I do want to comment though on how nice the priest's living quarters were, I guess the whole humble thing only applies to nuns.
This Facebook post made this film even worse. What a total waste of time.
