What an amusing story about the journey into womanhood! From a young age, Zelma was taught – rather than discovering herself – how to be a woman that a man would love. Trying hard to meet society's standards, she went through various phases in her life. It's only when she finally meets someone who shares her struggles that she decides enough is enough.
I really appreciate how this film provides a fun lesson on how our brains and bodies respond to triggers, explaining why Zelma feels and acts the way she does. Although sometimes it gets too detailed, it's really fun to see that there's always a scientific reason behind our behavior. Such a pleasurable way to understand our bodies more.
The way they drew and animated the characters reminds me of Lizzie McGuire's animated alter ego, especially with the real-life sets as the background as well. Also the musical numbers in this movie are so fun and catchy.
