Women world film directors

Organised alphabetically by country. Notes give information on more films from the featured director and lists more directors from the country.

There are lots of good lists on Letterboxd about women directors but this one's purpose is mainly for those participating in the March Around The World Challenge who might want to include more foreign films by women directors.

Countries are current even when the films mentioned are historic from a time when the area was differently named or part of a different country. I've included nations which are sometimes classified as being part of another country - not all of these may count for the challenge.

For some countries I've only found short films (so far) so have included them for interest but remember that only films of 60 minutes plus count for the challenge.

Thanks to everyone who has suggested directors and whose women director lists I've pillaged.

Corrections and suggestions are welcome and appreciated.
