If saying candyman in the mirror 5 times summoned yahya abdul mateen II then i don’t care if i die… i am willing to take those risks
big ups to Nia DaCosta for making me feel represented on screen!! (character who invites a hot artist to their house to listen to Fetch The Bolt Cutters and tell them their art is "actually soooo good")
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

me: babe your hands are so cold
yahya: thats me hook
a movie about gentrification in which its literal definition is constantly reiterated a dozen times, existing only to satisfy the people whose lives will never be affected by its circumstances in the long run—it's pointless and confused; yet peele's sense of all-knowing self righteousness shines through, everybody involved was clearly under the impression that they were making something groundbreaking and thought-provoking even though all we wanted and what black people deserve is a genre film that would've maybe been less colder than the original. nia's direction is mostly passionless; and you can tell this was shot by the dude who did love simon but honestly the identity politics and race-conscious narrative here are so unbelievably basic and i'm convinced these…
Overstuffed and disorganized, which is a real shame since it's also pretty and weird.
there was a bee trapped in the cinema with us and i think it really heightened the experience

CANDYMAN was a mixed bag of sweets and sours for me. Enjoyed Nia DaCosta’s haunting atmosphere, striking camerawork, the dark score & powerfully disturbing themes. But the economically rushed storytelling resulted in dull characters, a disjointed narrative & a messy examination of its many ideas.
has candyman ever seen a snickers bar? or skittles?? nobody wants those decade old butterscotch shits
