About the list
The list contains films from countries whose productions I've watched. I've chosen the best film (IMHO, of course) from each country to be represented in the list. If I've watched more than 100 films from a specific country, I've added Runner-up in notes, more than 250 brought a 2nd Runner-up, and in the rare case of more than 500, I added even a third one (each time with only one film per director).
If I felt that the chosen film is popular enough, I've also added another film as a special mention (one that has less than 2500 votes).

I was strict about choosing the production country the film belongs to, and only if the majority of the crew and cast nationality were from this country I would choose it or if it was accepted as a submission to the Best Foreign Language Film Award at the Oscars (though I know that in the past their attitude towards was quite indulgent).
For example: "And Then We Danced" is Swedish and not Georgian, "Beasts of No Nation" is from the USA and not Ghana, "The Forgiveness of Blood" is not Albanian, "Tanna" is Australian production and not Vanuatu and etc'
UPD. 31.03 - After a month of the March Around the World 2023 Challenge six new countries were added (Benin, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Haiti, Malawi, Papua New Guinea) and ten minor-production countries the number of watched films raised (Burkina Faso, Democratic Republic of Congo, Malaysia, Mali, Nepal, Panama, Paraguay, Puerto-Rico, Sri Lanka, Syria).
"Viva Riva" replaced "Maki’la" as the best cinematic representative of the country.
After some thought, I've also decided to "disqualify" "Z" as it has very little to do with Algeria it won the Oscar for.
