This movie frustrated the hell out of me!! A guy and his girlfriend end up stuck in an empty pool with a crocodile and it sounds like something I’d totally dig, but nah.

I did enjoy that the crocodile acted like a real animal (even if it looked completely cgi) vs acting like a crazed carnivorous human chomping machine because animals are like people in the sense that they eat when they’re hungry vs constantly attacking anything edible like so many movies. Well, and most people anyway. People of Walmart being an obvious exception. I also enjoyed the scene where the guy beats the croc with a bucket and the croc basically backs off like “damn dude fine whatever RUDE”.…

I serviced pools in Florida from 2020 - 2023, often times in densely wooded or swampy rural areas. So the idea of getting chased and stranded on a floaty by an alligator (or in this case a crocodile) was always something that would amuse my mind when I would walk around corners or through bushes to get to equipment. A few of my coworkers encountered some small gators in pools, but never anything near adulthood. The coolest animals I ever saw swimming in them besides people's dogs was way too many snapping turtles and coral snakes. I always wanted to come across an alligator in a pool so I watched this movie!

A film about a man who, through a series of unfortunate events, finds himself stuck in an empty swimming pool with his girlfriend and a CGI crocodile. And the croc really isn't convincing at all! It took me completely out of the movie. Had the film been made in the eighties, the croc most likely would have been animatronic and it might have been unconvincing, but I'd have wanted to believe. There's a certain honesty that comes with special effects artists making models and manipulating them in camera that I can get behind, and this can never be replicated by people sitting behind computer screens.
