Not bad
There's no Freddy Krueger in this one.
Just a crazy Dr. and mean looking sharks.
Of course they had to do a scene in the tub with shark fin!
Score wasn't bad.
😴💤
A handful of shark attack survivors gather at secluded mountain retreat for "treatment". This is an homage to A Nightmare on Elm Street centered around a supernatural shark instead of Freddy. I know that sounds stupid and it is. Doesn't mean it can't be fun though. The weird premise, the supernatural sharknanigans, and the likable cast kept me invested. I was genuinely rooting for this group of survivors to survive. It's a made for tv syfy flick so the cgi was hella shitty. A bigger budget and a couple gory set pieces and this could've been a hidden gem. I still enjoyed the story overall as it was unique. As far as shark movies go its not one of the best but it's far from one of the worst imho.
Oh, what a world we live in! When I woke up this morning I begrudgingly drove to work in a familiar, groggy haze. Desperately needing my first of many cups of coffee. If I would have told myself 16 hours ago, "Hey it will be alright you will be watching a Nightmare on Elm Street and shark movie hybrid tonight." My day would have been 1000% better. Just the thought of this hybrid is a mindgasm.
Does the movie live up to my should have happened inner dialog? Sort of. Look this is a Syfy movie and I found it on the Syfy Roku app. I am not expecting gore or even a good movie. I am hoping to find…
Spooky Scary Horrorthons 12 - Film #24
A crappy shark film with Freddy Krueger DNA this might be, but it tries so damned hard with its little story and throws so many Elm Street-esque nightmare sequences at you that it becomes hard for me to loathe it. This is not laugh-out-loud funny as this type of thing tend to be when it's watchable, but rather admirably ambitious. Good job, Nightmare Shark!
And I cheered when they did the razor glove in the bathtub-scene but with a shark fin.
Okay this was weird. I watched this under the title THE CURSE OF THE DREAM WITCH, but it wasn't exactly this film. But a search for the Dream Witch kept coming up with this Nightmare Shark film instead. It was bugging me that I couldn't log my viewing on Letterboxd, but I watched the trailer for NIGHTMARE SHARK on youtube and it was the same film as the Dream Witch one, except all the dreamy witchy stuff was replaced with nightmarey sharky stuff!
Looks like they made two films from one, just with a few little re-shoots of certain scenes, a few dialogue changes, and a different creature. Quite a shrewd business model really. I'm sure that Godfrey Ho used…
Not bad in comparison to other Syfy flicks lately, though it still suffers from the main ailment that 90% of them do: just a goddamned slog of a second act. It's like clockwork, every time these things hit the midpoint, it just slows to a crawl for me and I start to check out. They tend to pick up for the finale, but there has to be a way to crack the code here and make a Syfy movie where the second act is actually fun. I also wish they had some more means to play in the dream sequences more. What they ARE able to do here is pretty neat, with all of the fantasy sequences being fun and some even being slickly shot. Overall, satisfying, just undercooked.
I mean, you can tell the director tried to make something good out of this but that mix of SyFy, a low budget and stupid shark ideas just kinda kills it.
Friendship ended with Freddy Krueger, now I only want killer sharks in my nightmares (jk, btw, this movie sucks)

Yes it is what you think it is. Nightmare on Elm Street with a shark instead of Freddy. Even redoes the bathtub scene with a shark fin replacing Freddys Claws. Could have been better but the idea is kooky enough for me to love it.

NIGHTMARE SHARK (2018)
"Survivors of previous shark attacks are hunted by a supernatural shark in their dreams."
I should be reviewing this movie come shark week, but I caught this made-for-television SyFy channel B-flick this morning around 4 a.m. amidst a raging thunderstorm outside my window and think it's more appropriate to review now while its still fresh in my head. I fell asleep almost halfway through, than did fall asleep after it was over and did I have nightmares?!....hahahahaha, yeah okay let's get into this shit.
Nightmare Shark concerns a group of people suffering from recurring nightmares of a supernatural killer shark gathering together in a mountain retreat. It turns out all of them are survivors of previous shark…
