This isn’t even about the damn shark, instead this is focused on a boring Russian naval conflict while the shark swims around. Shitty Syfy shark movie week 2018 is off to a terrible start.
when the Russian submarine dude started insulting America and our hero literally pinched the sides of his mouth shut like a BABY and growled "you do not talk about the Navy like that" hahahaha
surely there can't be this many shark movies. surely I'm reaching the limit. there has to be an endpoint

Another movie made by The Asylum that rips off a bigger budget hit, right down to some scenes being lifted directly...but on the other hand, they used a couple of things from the book that weren't in The Meg movie and they actually delivered on a cool image that was used for The Meg promotional stuff but never happened in the movie. So points to The Asylum for doing a fun job on the actual Megalodon parts of the movie....but dammit they always seem to feel the need to involve the military and have a really…
"That was some movie hero-type shit."
I was kinda excited to watch this one because it's Michael Madsen vs. a giant shark. At least, that's what the poster promised. I didn't have high expectations, but once the credits said special appearance by Michael Madsen. So, what expectations I had were deflated. And in this day and age, you are either getting Tarantino's Madsen or just waking up from a bar stool Madsen. Either way, I am glad to see the man. This isn't very good, but it is far from the worst shark movie I've seen. I never felt this was lazy, but more of a lack of budget holding it back. It looks like they got access to some…
Why not more giant shark:(
I came to watch a bad funny movie. But it wasn’t funny, it was just sad/boring/bad
Ah yes, another shark film made by SyFy. Admittedly, I went in with very low expectations and honestly, it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. The acting wasn’t good but I feel like everyone took their roles seriously and tried their best. The cgi was pretty awful all around but I loved the look of the shark, he was actually terrifying. I wish there were better kills though. The best part is the final scene, it’s so stupid and ridiculous that I genuinely laughed out loud. Overall, it’s not a good movie but I enjoyed it for what it was.
“Well if we're gonna step in it, we're gonna have to clean it up”
The elephant in the room with a syfy shark-movie of this kind is obviously the poor cgi-effects, likely due to an (assumed) low budget. Because of that, it’s such a shame that Megalodon shows of its silly shark so early rather than rely on the suspense in hiding it. Because as long as we’re with humans on the boat rather than the aquatic beast, the film fares better; the acting is reasonably passable (although the sleepy Michael Madsen distracts some) and the musical score fits the mood. Granted, the tech-dialogue carries zero weight and the character work is virtually nonexistent, but when the film puts all its focus on the threat of being stuck at this tight place and work with its strengths, it does manage to survive passably instead of fully relying on its garbage cgi-shark.
Man oh man, these movies must be so easy to make. All you need are a couple rooms, dolled up to look like control centers, a CGI shark, a docked ship for people to run around on the deck of occasionally and some actors who are good at yelling stuff like "We need to turn this thing around! Now!". And easiest of all, getting Michael Madsen to agree to be in the film.
It is nice to see one of these low budget creature features actually take itself seriously for once, rather than the modern, tongue always in cheek, we know this is bad, creature features that dominate the genre. Reminds me of the Blockbuster Video days of renting these goofball flicks and laughing at it because it was ridiculous, but at least they were trying to make a good film. And usually failing.
