List of potential films related to my current PhD thesis research. It ranges from works I HAVE seen, works I HAVEN'T seen, and works I know almost nothing about/can't/want to access. Many Japanese experimental films, particularly from the 80s, are very hard to access, and many are completely lost now.

This list also doubles as one of recommendations for anyone looking for unique & striking films, many of which have flown under the radar for far too long.

UPDATE: I was lucky enough to visit Japan recently on a research trip, where I learnt about the existence of so many more experimental/avant-garde films. I'm also removing a few of the more straightforward films which don't necessarily fit the criteria. I'll save some of those for a different list.
