I think its a bummer that DC decided to solve its problems by aping the snark-quirk tone that worked well for Marvel. It's a sensibility that really sets my teeth on edge, and I find it discouraging that it has become the style of the monoculture.
Don't have any nostalgia for, or care about the nuances of, the character of Superman, so I can't really appreciate all the things that fans have said this movie does well in that regard.
It just really feels sauce-less to me, sorry.
