Last year, I took part in my first Hooptober movie marathon (named after the late horror filmmaker Tobe Hooper) and it was so much fun that I decided to do it again this year, this time with way more films that I expected to watch this year.
For those unaware, the Hooptober challenge, created in 2014 by the Letterboxd user Cinemonster, encourages movie lovers and horror movie fans to watch and review at least 31 horror movies between September 15th and Halloween (October 31st) that fit certain criteria.
As with last year, I'll be adding some additional rules for myself that will determine which films I'll be watching for this year. I'll also have notes for each film that list which criteria it falls under and where these films are available to watch legally in the U.S. Since a film can qualify for more than one criteria, the number of films I'll be watching per criteria in parentheticals will reflect as such, with the predominant criteria listed first and bolded in the notes.
