Starring: The Wicked, Charming, Dutch Icon Rutger Hauer
Hauer returns to a film in which he plays a minor role; the plot serves largely as a retelling of the Bible; and this time the filmmakers are drawing inspiration from YA books and authors like Dan Brown and Neil Gaiman. In contrast to "The Reverend," this picture features superior storytelling, set design, and performances. Most notably, the film's cinematography, as well as the world's building and aesthetic in general.
Our young lead cast don't always give their best performances. However, I'm still surprised as to how the filmmaker managed to cast a slew of relatively big and known actors, like Hauer, Lambert, Franco Nero (who apparently isn't related to the director),…
Don't believe the high ratings on IMDB: they are all fake accounts made by the director himself. This should already be a clear indicator of how pathetic this movie is. No, not satisfied? Do you want to hear more? Oh boy.
This film is the worst movie I have ever seen in my life, and I've seen A LOT of bad movies. Usually, in their ugliness, they are a pleasure to watch, but this one is beyond any form of self punishment. What baffles me is the paradox of its existance.
Usually there is a ground level of bad scriptwriting, because someone will always point out the most basic mistakes you made. This time it didn't happen. But the paradox…
Turin, Italy, 2033 AD: the search for the missing piece of an ancient Egyptian papyrus leaves a bloody trail around Piedmont. So loosely and clumsily plotted to make Dan Brown seem a master storyteller in comparison, a Da Vinci Code ripoff that combines Hyeronimus Bosch, Dante Alighieri, the Gods Horus and Toth and the "men in black" urban myth with visual nods ranging between Kubrick's 2001, "Brazil" and "Blade Runner" in a sluggish 2-hours that defy any viewer's belief. Amateurish dialogue levels numerous washed-out stars (all in walk-on-and-die roles) down with the unpromising newcomers playing the leads, but the film sports a consistent visual style that offers the most adventurous and patient film watchers quite a few arresting images. Amongst an endless string of esoteric mumbo-jumbo and confusing enigmas, the one mystery begging to be investigated is how, why and by whom was a project like this financed.
From Ammo Content & Wonderphil Entertainment & Red Rock Entertainment & L'Altro Film & Toronto Film & comes a solid drama directed by Louis Nero. It features Andrea Cocco Geraldine Chaplin & William Baldwin they make this one go.
Italian psychodelic Sci-Fi with a helping of The Davinci Code, but hey its got The Hylander a Replicant and a Fucking Baldwin in it so I just went with it lol
