I've had so much fun with this series so far that I'm continuing it for a third time. Below are the five directors I have decided to include in this list with a short comment on why I am interested in including them in this challenge. As before, I am watching their five highest rated movies on Letterboxd that I have not yet seen.

I've had so much fun with this series so far that I'm continuing it for a third time. Below are the five directors I have decided to include in this list with a short comment on why I am interested in including them in this challenge. As before, I am watching their five highest rated movies on Letterboxd that I have not yet seen.
Alfred Hitchcock: As a seminal filmmaker who is often considered one of the greatest of all time, it will come to no surprise why a movie-lover would like to see more Hitchcock movies. They are always a treat and since he is pretty prolific there are still many beloved films of his that I have not seen yet.
Krzysztof Kieślowski: I recently watched Dekalog and that experience combined with my love for the Three Colors Trilogy easily convinced me that I wanted to see more. I love how Kieślowski is so devoted to the beauty and mystery inherit in all humans even while considering our most strange and terrible behaviors.
Akira Kurosawa: Although this is another one of the greatest filmmakers who has ever lived and there is no further explanation needed to justify watching more of his movies, Ikiru is one of my personal most favorite movies of all time. Kurosawa always deftly handles his characters, their ethics, and emotional core no matter how big or small the story around them is.
Gus Van Sant: Van Sant is one of those directors who I've happened to see most of his movies without necessarily seeking them out because he directed them. However, most are very solid, and appeal to me because they are usually about fascinating characters and he gets a lot of great work out of a lot of great actors. Once I've seen these five by him, I will only have two more to become a completist.
Paul Schrader: After really enjoying Schrader's two newest movies, attending a screening and Q&A with him for First Reformed, and reading about him in Easy Riders, Raging Bulls I am very curious to see what his earlier work was like.
I will keep a Top 5 list as I complete the challenge:
Progress: 25/25
Top 5:
1. Red Beard
2. A Short Film About Killing
3. Shadow of a Doubt
4. Blue Collar
5. Mala Noche
