8th Academy Awards (Oscars 1936)

Honoring the films released in 1935, the 8th Academy Awards Ceremony was held at the Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles on March 5, 1936. The ceremony was hosted by Frank Capra.

This year marks the first year in which the gold statuettes were called "Oscars". The Academy Award for Best Dance Direction was also introduced and it was the second and last year that write-in votes were allowed.
