9th Academy Awards (Oscars 1937)

Honoring the films released in 1936, the 9th Academy Awards Ceremony was held at the Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles on March 4, 1937. The ceremony was hosted by George Jessel.

This year, the Academy Award for Supporting Actor and Supporting Actress were introduced. It also marks the first year that the awards for directing and acting were fixed at five nominees per category.
