this was an awesome zombie movie that literally captures the feeling of quarantine life. zombies not making any vocalizing sounds absolutely makes them more terrifying and sinister!!!
The most relatable part of this film is when a character nearly dies trying to befriend a cat
There’s no shortage of zombie apocalypse content, especially in 2018, but this French horror-thriller stands out. Set in Paris, Anders Danielsen Lie plays Sam, who accidentally falls asleep during a party and wakes up to find himself the only living person left while zombies wreak havoc. Terrified, he barricades himself inside the building to survive. This film is more of a character study, delving into the pain of isolation and loneliness. It’s well-crafted and takes its time, unlike most zombie flicks. While it builds suspense and scares gradually, especially toward the end, it’s not heavy on dialogue—mostly in English with some Norwegian. I wasn't a fan of the musical segments, but I understand their purpose. The slow pacing had me unsure at first, but once it shifted to survival mode, it really clicked for me. Overall, it’s a solid gem.
It could have been a good 45 minute shortfilm, unfortunatly the running time is twice as long and the additional 45 minutes I'd personally left on the cutting board are tediously dull.
Our lead has a bigger problem fighting boredom than he does fighting zombies, and his boredom while relateable is also infectious leaving the viewer bored as well.
Definitely didn't expect what I got. A lot of zombie films have a loner character, but not many focus on them. It was fascinating following the character, Sam, as he struggled to survive alone. There are some touching moments and a lot of heartbreaking ones too. The progression of the story made sense and the ending felt right. I'd recommend this to anyone.
in 2016, I praised Train to Busan for being the most inventive and unique zombie film to be made in many years from that point in time. For a genre so watered down and amok with generic entries and poor presentation, it can be a true religious experience stumbling across an undead feature that truly sets itself apart from the horde. Alas, here we are in 2018 and that time has come once again for another zombie movie to rise up above the rest. The Night Eats the World is an English language French production that simultaneously covers two of my "must-see fantasy movies ideas" at once:
1. The zombie movie in which the movie just so happened to feature…
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
It's like Shaun of the Dead but it's only one guy and there's no comedy. He gets so lonely he thinks about maybe becoming friends with the zombies. WTF.
There were a couple good moments.
Vegan alerts:
-It's inferred that a cat is shot.
-Non-vegan food is featured.
Ahh, a zombie film that gives you an answer of “Is it better to be alive and alone in a zombie apocalypse, or dead, or be a zombie?” type of question which is my brand.
It’s a quiet zombie film, and not just because the zombies make no noise, but because the action is more realistically sounded, and the soundtrack is more atmospheric than designed to ramp up the adrenalin. Nothing much new and all of the action takes place in one apartment building, its roof and the nearby streets. Still, a nice addition to the genre.
