This challenge took from January 10, 2022 to December 28, 2022. The average score I gave for this challenge was a 3.3.
The biggest surprise was The Girl with All the Gifts. I expected a somewhat generic zombie film. Zombie films at this point are one of the hardest horror subgenres to do. But this one, released in 2016, managed to feel refreshing and unique and incredibly thoughtful. Genuinely one of the best horror films I’ve ever seen. The biggest disappointment was Black Moon. I was hoping the film directed by the man who made Zazie Dans Le Metro would feel more subversive and boundary pushing but it felt so nonsensical instead. I always love a good Alice in Wonderland sorry but that one was just incredibly stupid and pointless. His worst film I’ve seen and a significant disappointment following the high of Zazie.
