Clean Sweeps at the Oscars

The more awards a film is nominated for at the Oscars, the more likely it is they will suffer a loss. It's very rare for a film to be nominated for multiple Oscars and then go on to win every single one it was competing for. These are those films that achieved a Clean Sweep.

Of these films, six were nominated for and won Best Picture. The film with the largest clean sweep is Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, with 11. As such, it is also one of three films tied for most Oscars in history.

Only four ceremonies have had multiple films achieve clean sweeps: the 39th, 68th, 86th, and 94th. Of these, the 68th had 3 films achieve this while the 39th, 86th, and 94th only had 2.
