Beautifully filmed (some really gorgeous shots that would make great still photographs), funny and moving and great performances all round. Toni Collette is absolutely superb but everyone is great, really. Levi Miller is just lovely in the main role as Charlie - he's so perfect as this nerdy, sweet outcast. Angourie Rice is great, too, as are Aaron L. McGrath as Jasper Jones and Kevin Long as Jeffrey was a riot.
Racism, being an outsider, small-town boredom, are some of the themes explored and, while it's not the best film I've seen that looks at these things, it's thoroughly enjoyable.
Anyway, I can't seem to write about movies, any more, but I think it's really important to support Australian cinema at the theatres, if you can, especially Australian films directed by (Indigenous) women. So, go see it, please! (If it's even still out?)
