Every time I watch a movie from that sweet spot of the late nineties I am reminded how good we had it and just didn’t realize it. So many interesting concepts and big swings. This film did an amazing job creating a tense, dread-laden atmosphere with a satisfying slowish build. Love the element of opening portals or doorways to who knows where/what. There’s lots to enjoy about this movie overall, though I do feel like it would have been even better if the horror elements were dialed up just a bit.
