This will be the first time I'm taking part in the Hooptober Letterboxd challenge (named after the late horror filmmaker Tobe Hooper) that was started in 2014 by a user called Cinemonster. The goal is to watch 31 horror films (or in my case, 32) that fit certain criteria from now until October 31st, just in time for the Halloween season.

Starting a week late to figure out what horror films I want to watch, but here are the official criteria for this year's Hooptober and how many films I plan on watching for each category (unless otherwise specified) in parenthesis.

2 folk horror (3)
4 films from 1981 (4)
2 films from your birth year (1997; 2)
2 haunted house films (3)
The worst "Part 2" that you haven't seen (1)
1 film set in the woods (2)
1 Kaiju or Kong film (not the new K v. G) (1)
2 Hammer films (2)
3 films with a person of color as director or lead. (excluding Asian) (1)
3 Asian horror films. (3)
And 1 Tobe Hooper Films (1)

Worst "Part 2" must have an average rating of 2.0 or below.
