Every year as the spooky season surfaces and nights begin to get darker and new chills pervade the air and agents of the shadows come out to play, it marks the dawn of an annual festivity on Letterboxd which has, from its inception, continued to bring this community together unlike anything before or since.
What started as Cinemonster's 1½-month long horror marathon has now evolved into the most awaited & sought-after challenge on this site. Drenching everyone in blood, guts, screams & terror as they take on monsters, vampires, witches, zombies, demons, werewolves, ghosts, serial killers & all creatures of darkness, this year marks the 9th edition of Hoop-Tober and it's live already.

As before, all the participants are required to watch & review 31 horror films of their choice as long the films abide by Cine's rules & criteria. But do not let the rule book distract you from the real reason why Hoop-Tober exists: It is to celebrate horror and savour all the dark & demented joys the genre has in store for you. And explore countless gems that are simply waiting to be discovered.
To those taking part for the first time, welcome to the madness. You guys have no idea how much fun you are about to have but I can assure you you'll be coming back each year every year from here on. And to those returning again to the yearly pilgrimage, welcome back. Let us have a spooky month & a half again, shall we? And lastly to those who are curious or still on the sidelines, you've got nothing to lose so jump aboard and see for yourself what this madness is all about.
As before, I'll be starting my horror marathon from Oct 1st, once again going for 31 horrors in 31 nights: a feat achieved in all past editions so far. And the following are the films I've chosen for my contribution to Cine's Hoop-Tober 9. Some of these entries may get replaced over the course of the month, depending on either my mood or their availability. And that's pretty much it. All the best to everyone. And don't forget to have fun, for that's what this is actually all about. Let the screams begin!
