Jessi’s review published on Letterboxd:
As someone who was completely unaware of Curry and his impact on figure skating, I found this interesting. There are some asides that seem to be attempts to add drama without a real payoff: the comment about the danger of sand on the ice, or the one about the humanity of the live symphony causing fluctuations in performances. Despite the title, I thought it did a good job of not deifying its subject; Curry clearly struggles at times and the talking heads don't shy away from discussing the darker aspects of his life. The role of the AIDS epidemic is especially heartbreaking.
The choreography is beautiful and I wish there were better-quality versions of the performances. I also struggled with the subtitles (although this might be a Tubi issue rather than the fault of the film itself) because so many were just [mumbling] and I was like, "yes, movie, that's why I have captions on."
