Formerly known as Rustic Films

Mostly all produced by Moorehead and Benson under their Rustic Films production label, all these films come from a tight stable of creators and feature a similar story of minimalist storytelling heavily focused on character relationships with a horror or sci-fi backdrop. Maybe some of my favorite stuff going right now, its a polarizing style as some gatekeeping horror fans despise these films and one Letterboxd reviewer dubbed Moorehead and Benson the “Enemies of Horror.” I loved that and chose to claim the label for my favorite mumblecore barely horror creators out there. Gardner’s After Midnight got burned last year but Synchronic takes its place. Seimetz also adds Sun Don’t Shine which is a bit of a stretch for horror but fits well into the team theme. And as co-star of After Midnight I’m making Brea Grant an honorary Enemy of Horror because Best Friends Forever definitely fits the “There’s a Horror Movie Happening Over There” buddy road trip vibe of the team.
