What really struck me while watching this was how effectively Chantal Akerman (and Delphine Seyrig!) showed us Jeanne's routine in just one day. Two data points isn't -shouldn't be- a pattern, but we only need one here to understand what everyday life looks like, and to see that this was certainly not the first day for Jeanne. Each day is another straw for the camel's back.
We need only see half of the first day to understand that those tiny deviations on the following days are unusual. Jarring. A light left on -that's not right- another straw for the camel. A window left open. A spoon dropped. The camel's legs shake. Bad coffee. "A sword hurts." A back breaks.
