In 2020 I completed Hooptober Se7en, a feat that I am still slightly surprised by even almost a year later. This year, I'm trying it again!
What I discovered last year is that it helps to have a friend. My friend in 2020 was Shudder.com, which ran an event called "61 Days of Halloween." I followed along, watching many of the movies and tweeting along. I ended up counting several of those movies for Hooptober, meaning that the list continuously changed and adapted as I watched more films and found ways to incorporate them. Assuming Shudder runs a similar event this year (and I don't know why they wouldn't, even if it isn't the full 61 days), I imagine Hooptober…

Throat-clearing aside, how Hooptober works is, there are a bunch of categories of movies you need to watch. There are typically more categories than movies, so one movie can count for more than one category. You just need to have 31 movies on your list overall. My list, like last year, will consist (almost) exclusively of films that are free to stream for me on one of my various streaming services.
The categories come from the main Hooptober list by Cinemonster, which you can check out here. The challenge runs from September 15th to October 31st. Without further ado, here's my list:
