I dedicate this Hooptober list -- my third, the challenge's eighth -- to my firstborn son, who at one point was obsessed with The Count from Sesame Street and the song "Eight is Great."

09/29/2021 Update: Already got through 7 films, but I added more to the list going by what's on Criterion Channel for October. I also got rid of Quatermass Xperiment and replaced it with the Hammer Mummy because the former was impossible to find and the latter is available on HBO Max (and I can watch the Universal version first now). Still mulling over whether to do so for Possession but I want to see it too much ...

10/11/2021 Update: Saw Possession! Ha-ha, thank you Metrograph! Also, for foreign co-productions I’m just choosing the country that seems to be most associated with the production to be the one that “counts.”

11/30/2021 Update: Well, with 10 films short and a big chunk of the films I did watch not reviewed as of this update I think I've got to mark this one down as a failure. My schedule and the kids' needs just didn't allow me to do it this year the way I'd like to. I'd still like to watch the remaining films, but maybe I'll do it as some sort of "Hooptober in March" special or as a pre-game to next year's Hooptober. Catch you later!
