I've been using Letterboxd for a good 3 years now, compiling annual best of the year lists, completing director's feature filmographies, binging through franchises and even having watched every god damn Oscar Best Picture winner.

Yet in all that time I've never participated in a film challenge of someone else's creation. So what better than to start off with Cinemonster's 8th annual HoopTober. Here's his OG list...

I've never really considered myself as a 'horror guy' per se, but I've always been interested with the genre and it's about time I knocked off some of these films that have been sat on my digital watchlists for longer than I'd like to admit.

As I work in a cinema, October is going to be a super busy month this year, with No Time To Die (Bond 25) now confirmed for release. So despite HoopTober officially starting on the 15th September, I thought I'd give myself some extra time to complete the challenge. I've compiled 31 films to watch between now and Halloween 2021 - a good 60 days.

All the films below are first time watches for me. RANKED FROM FAVOURITE TO LEAST.

RULE 5: 2 films from your birth year
RULE 6: 2 haunted house films
RULE 7: The worst Part 2 that you haven't seen
RULE 8: 1 film set in the woods
RULE 9: 1 Kaiju or Kong film (not the new K v. G)
RULE 10: 2 Hammer films
RULE 11: 3 films with a person of colour as director or lead. (excluding Asian)
RULE 12: 3 Asian horror films.
And finally, RULE 13: 1 Tobe Hooper Films (There must ALWAYS be a Hooper film)
