Progress: 33/31
I've never done a Hooptober before but gonna give it a go this year. Tried to limit this primarily to movies that I haven't seen before and ones that are available on streaming services I'm subscribed to.
I noted the requirements that a film covers in the list notes. Some of these are movies I have tickets to see later this month already, so I've given those priority. List may change based on what is screening at the Hollywood Theatre in October!
The criteria:
6 countries
8 decades
2 folk horror
4 films from 1981
2 films from your birth year
2 haunted house films

1 film set in the woods
1 Kaiju or Kong film (not the new K v. G)
2 Hammer films
3 films with a person of color as director or lead. (excluding Asian)
3 Asian horror films.
And 1 Tobe Hooper Films (There must ALWAYS be a Hooper film)
EXTRA CREDIT: WATCH JD'd Revenge, The Skull and The Scooby Doo Project
Cinemonster's OG list.
--Other notes--
List movies that I've seen before:
Let the Right One In - A personal favorite that I wanted to revisit
Pet Sematary - Another fav I wanted to revisit, plus I've got tickets to see it in a double feature with Cujo later in Sep.
Postmortem:
Got through the entire list including the extra credit EXCEPT for Possession. I went to rent it three times and it was out each time, including once when I literally saw it in the recent catalogue search on the computer at the video store, so someone had just checked it out. It's high on my list of films to watch anyways so I'll get to it soon.
I think next year I'm going to try to be more flexible with the list since I was watching so much extra stuff anyways that I probably could have had this finished by mid-October. There were a bunch of things on the list I'd meant to watch for years that I felt I needed to get through that I won't need to worry about next year which should help. Overall fun but I kinda need a break from movies for now (i.e. watch 2-3 per week instead of 5).
