I think the ingredients of a proper 4-star movie, the kind you rewatch every five years, are here but not properly assembled. Nairu Yamamoto is so lovely, so magnetic in all of her scenes that she redeems her supremely annoying partner like the best of people do. Shame.

Awful mech design, walks around like an angry bird. Structurally can’t hold together for its running time so it has its main character passing out and being revived to join up the parts. Pretty tedious despite the amount of work and money that’s gone into it. What a shame. Invest in better movies, megacorps!

Not as bad as the Batman films, which were the lowest points of Nolan's career. The performances were all great, especially Tom Hardy who basically appears alone in a cockpit closeup for all of his scenes and still manages to make it work. Kenneth Branagh really needs to get some sun. The music was... a Hans Zimmer score. It did the job and added drama but I can't remember a single tune.
