UPDATE: This is not a list of films which cannot be understood. Of course these films can be understood, have obvious themes, and be visually interesting. This is just a fun list of films where the plot is surreal, with a goofy quote for a title.

I'm aware that many Letterboxd users whom I admire and respect hate this list. I've seen people on Twitter say this is "the worst Letterboxd list" and "films that make no damn sense if you are dumb" and that "HE SHOULD DELETE THIS LIST". I've seen people attack my character and say I am "sad", "insufferable", a "bozo", and have "terrible taste". I particularly resent the accusations that I am too dumb to understand these films ("who’s the bozo getting confused at Cache?"; "if you were so confused by videodrome ... i’m slightly concerned for you"; "Absolutely fascinated how people like this even find a movie like Horse Money"; "This is a list made by a 17-year-old kid... They clearly are drawn to interesting films, but may not be able to understand why just yet").
I have written many long pieces on some of these films, and their meanings, and their themes (ironically some of these reviews have been "liked" by those critiquing my intentions with this list). The accusations that I'm a moron unable to analyse the form and themes of movies are insulting. People are taking this too literally. Maybe I should have chosen a better title, but I just wanted a fun list of films where the plot is metaphorical or surreal, as opposed to naturalistic or possible. I also wanted this list to promote deep and powerful films, but instead people have assumed I am saying this is a list of films I am too moronic to understand and am not recommending. That was never my intention. Peace.
