i'm finally starting to recover a director i've always heard great things about and whose monographs and interviews i've already watched on yt:
Shelton Jackson Lee aka Spike Lee !! 🔥

a debut film aimed at the general public (i know of a film he directed during his time at school, but i think i'll watch it last, so i can evaluate it after fully absorbing the artist's technical skills and themes (it's already on my yt watchlist 😋)), which shows how powerful and free the protagonist is, while cleverly making the male supporting characters mean and changeable 🥶

nothing else to say: he was able to address themes of his own culture in a particular historical context, without mincing words 🫡

feminism passed with flying colors 🔝

i can't wait to continue watching his films 👻
