That's pretty much what I did throughout this challenge. This started as a personal attempt to keep up with Indian cinema, which I had largely ignored the more I got into world cinema. India is such a diverse country on many levels & so is our films coming out of different regions. The chosen films here may not wholly represent a decade of film content, but these films have stood apart for their ambition, making, scope & influences over the years.
Some are escapist masala films. Some are thoughtful art films. Some capture a scenario through larger-than-life lens. Some capture a scenario through modest lens. Some use social issues…

Some use social issues to stimulate viewer. Some make viewer empathise social issues. Some end up being bit of both kinds. Some defy particular categorisation. Despite of shortcomings, they are intriguing to be viewed for just what they are. To me, this is Indian cinema.
