Dylan’s review published on Letterboxd:
I'd never heard of this film prior to adding it to my Hooptober List, and that's honestly a little wild to me. I've read that, at the time, this was the most expensive Japanese movie ever made, and I'm not surprised. The scale of Virus is huge, it spans multiple countries, a huge international cast, large sets and beautiful secenery. I deliberately sought out the Japanese cut of the film, running at over 2.5 hours, and I'm glad I did, because this is truly an epic film.
It's bizarre to me that this has all but been forgotten to time considering the amount of obvious effort that went into it. I know I mentioned the scenery before, but this is a visually amazing film, I hope some boutique physical media company manages to get a hold of it for a restoration, if there was ever a film that deserves rediscovery and a second life, it's absolutely Virus.
