LSC Week 8: BLEEDING SKULL
-----------------------------------------
"Does anyone want a slice?"

This was surprisingly entertaining. The Slumber Party Massacre is a genuinely funny and memorable slasher that delivers exactly what it promises. I watched it for week eight of the Letterboxd Season Challenge and found myself enjoying it far more than expected.

This film does contain lots of female objectification, as was typical of the genre and era, yet the film still manages to feel oddly empowering. The women take charge, while the men are largely useless or comedic in their failures, which gives the film a subtle but satisfying twist on slasher conventions.

It may not be deeply profound or groundbreaking, but it’s undeniably fun. The kills are creative, the pacing brisk, and the tongue-in-cheek tone keeps it from feeling exploitative. The Slumber Party Massacre might not redefine horror, but it’s a film that knows exactly what it is and executes it with charm, humour, and just enough self-awareness to make it stand out.
